I love the evolutionary transformation - through hammering, persuasion, and struggle - from a
flat sheet of metal towards an object of unity and fluidity. I enjoy the paradox that "soft" and fluid-looking metal may have required extreme force and skill to be produced. |
the woods and along the water's edge. The allusions are ambiguous so that each
viewer may relate differently, as perceptions are filtered through personal sets of
memories and experiences.
Each piece is intended to be used, worn, or held and contemplated
for a moment's respite from the hectic world.

BIOGRAPHY |
Cynthia creates jewelry and holloware in her studio in Lexington, MA and teaches Advanced Silversmithing and Jewelry at DeCordova Museum School in Lincoln, MA. She has worked as a designer and maker of custom jewelry in goldsmith galleries, and as designer/modelmaker and production supervisor at a gold jewelry factory. Cynthia began making jewelry in high school. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Indiana University in 1980 and a B.S. in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin in 1977. Cynthia Eid's hammered metalwork, which has won awards for creativity and design, has been featured in many publications and exhibited extensively. The Society of American Silversmiths published her article about photography for metalsmiths on its website.
